Oliver Twist

Next date: Wednesday, 30 April 2025 | 07:00 PM to 09:15 PM

St Pius X College proudly presents ‘Oliver Twist’ , a play adapted by Jeremy Brock from the famous novel by Charles Dickens.

The play follows the harrowing journey of a young orphan boy in 19th century England. Born in a workhouse, Oliver endures a harsh childhood filled with neglect and cruelty. After daring to ask for more food, he is expelled from the workhouse and begins a life on the streets of London.

Oliver encounters a series of characters, both benevolent and malevolent, including the Artful Dodger, a clever pickpocket, and Fagin, a manipulative criminal who trains children to steal. Oliver is drawn into a world of crime, where he meets the sinister Bill Sikes and the loyal Nancy, whose kindness ensures the downfall of her own precarious position. Despite the grim circumstances, Oliver retains his innocence and goodness.

The play explores themes of poverty, social injustice, and the struggle between good and evil.
